Fulton Board Of Education Celebrates Graduation Rate Improvement

To The Editor:

I am writing this letter on behalf of the Fulton City School District Board of Education to make certain that our community is aware of our school district’s latest graduation rate of 84% (for the Class of 2017).

This data point is cause for celebration for the board and the staff of the Fulton City School District, and it is an accomplishment resulting from the shared commitment of recent boards of education and all of our staff to our mission statement.

The school district’s graduation rate in 2013 was 63% (for students graduating in four years) and since that time the recent boards of education have demonstrated leadership and the commitment of resources to support improved academic success for our students.

It has truly been a team effort, with our teachersand administrators (grades UPK to grade 12), doing the heavy lifting day-in-and-day-out.

As many media stories report NYS testing data that present “the glass” as half-empty with respect for student performance, the ultimate goal for all school boards and educators is to have as many students as possible “cross the stage” for commencement.

The improved graduation rate for the Fulton CSD demonstrates the collective commitment by all stakeholders to the success of our students.

The Fulton Board of Education thanks our community for its support and we encourage you to celebrate with us as we acknowledge the contributions of all who have dedicated their efforts to our mission.

Respectfully submitted,
David Cordone, President of the Fulton Board of Education
