Protect the ACA

Here we go again!

It’s hard to believe that again we are facing the threat of extreme Republicans repealing the Affordable Care Act. (ACA)

Are you one of the over 20 million Americans, the 7 million New Yorkers who receive health insurance through the ACA, one of the young adults benefitting from inclusion on your parent’s health insurance? This continual attempt to slide backward rather than working to improve and expand health insurance access for all makes me so angry. It should make you angry, too!

The ACA has been instrumental in addressing systemic issues within our healthcare system and promoting preventive care. Repealing it without a comprehensive replacement plan, which the Republicans have failed to produce after 13 years, would leave many uninsured and create further health disparities.

Despite success, given the chance, extreme Republicans will eviscerate the ACA. They made that clear as repeal is part of the Republican Study Committee’s work. The repeal of the ACA poses a significant threat to the health and well-being of our community. It strips away vital protections that ensure individuals with pre-existing conditions are not denied coverage.

Central New Yorkers deserve to know where Brandon Williams stands. Is the vulnerable New York Republican all in on Trump’s spectacularly unpopular plan to take health care away from millions of Americans, thereby raising costs and threatening lives?
