What you missed at the latest Planning Board meeting is going to surprise the residents of E. Broadway and Holly Drive area.
It may be a surprise but totally understandable with the current city of Fulton administrations plan to make Fulton
“Housing friendly City” more “Hochul Housing”.
Coming soon to the eastside “A Boarding House”!
Yes, that is right a Boarding House, on the corner of East Broadway and Holly Drive, 826 Holly Drive.
A Boarding House with the capabilities of housing up to 25 residents.
What was thought to be a Dr. Office taking over the long vacant Medical Office Building on that corner is now being a proposed Boarding House.
Now one must look at the reason to need a Boarding House in a City has lost population over the past ten years.
It only takes one guess to answer the question.
Everyone should call their Common Councilor and express your support or displeasure with a Boarding House anywhere in the City of Fulton.
Now the Planning Board is doing their due diligence by requiring plans, etc. They are doing their job it will be up to the Common Council to do the will of the people.
Now the property is in a R3 Zone, which allows for Boarding Housing.
There should be Code requirements for a Boarding house in the city. They must be looked at and enforced to the letter of the law.
One requirement should be that a Boarding House should be required to have both City Sewage and City Water. Knowing Fulton, this may not be in the Codes, I’m hoping it is. The city should be able to collect both Sewage and Water fees from any such business.
