Trumps Project 2025 Education Plan

To the Editor,
As a life-long educator, I am appalled at Donald Trump’s 2025 Agenda for reversing the progress we have made in Public Education. This plan looks to eliminate the Department of Education and turn back the clock on reforms we have made in the last 50 years.
Trump’s Project 2025 hides behind the guise of “Family Choice” for educational options, yet the options are state driven and are not regulated to meet global standards. In his book, The World is Flat, Tom Friedman stresses the need for an educated workforce that can meet and compete on a global level.
By deregulating public education, the Federal Mandate for a Free and Appropriate Public Education for all students would be erased. Trump’s Project 2025 will disenfranchise our students in greatest need. Among them; students with disabilities, students who are non-native speakers, and students who are from low-income families. They will lose many of the opportunities gained to level the playing field.
The United States of America is the only country in the world that attempts to educate all children regardless of the challenges they face. This progress must continue in a democratic nation.
I will be voting for the Democratic ticket across the board. Trump’s Project 2025 is a dangerous document for many reasons. The dismantling of the American Education system is only one of
the many issues included that would do more harm than good to All Americans.
