Oswego Cares – Keeping Our Community Warm

OSWEGO, NY – In a joint effort to give back to the Oswego community, Zink Screenprinting & Design and YMCA’s ‘Reindeer Run’ will co-host the second annual ‘Oswego Cares’ Clothing Drive to benefit Oswego Industries on December 3, starting at 8 a.m. at Oswego YMCA on West First Street.

With the holidays are just around the corner, what better way to spread holiday spirit than helping those in need.

‘Oswego Cares’ has partnered with the YMCA’s annual ‘Reindeer Run’ to donate clothes to struggling families.

‘Oswego Cares’ was started in 2015 by Zink owner Glenn Zansitis, who sees his role as not just a small business owner but as member of the community that wants to be involved in helping those in need.

“That’s what ‘Oswego Cares” is all about,” Zansitis said. “We are joining with Oswego YMCA’s ‘Reindeer Run’ and our combined goal is to encourage the race participants and the whole community to come on by and drop off usable clothing that they no longer need.”

The ‘Reindeer Run’ will be held prior to the ‘Oswego Cares’ event inside the YMCA.

“We are very excited to partner with ‘Oswego Cares’” said Trish Levine, director of Health & Wellness at Oswego’s YMCA. “The ‘Reindeer Run’ is always a fun event that we look forward to bringing to the community each year, it adds to YMCA’s focus on social responsibilities.”

In 2015, Zansitis collaborated with Premier Living Suites, SUNY’s Enactus, and along with Michele Hourigan of Oswego Industries, who will receive and distribute the donated clothing.

Last year, more than 300 pounds of apparel were donated at the event. Zink is matching all clothing donations with custom printed T-shirts.

To enter the event, attendees can make a monetary gift or clothing donation at the door. Each attendee will receive a commemorative ‘Oswego Cares’ T-shirt printed on-site.

A wide range of entertainment will be provided, featuring the music of John McConnell and Sophie Woods. Big Kahuna Party-Rentals will be providing a bouncy house for children and inflatable jousting for the family.

Food and beverages will be provided by local restaurants who graciously sponsored the event, including Phat Kat Foods, Cupcakers and Fajita Grill. Our other sponsors include Mimi’s Home Cleaning and Oswego Printing Company.

All clothing donations will go to Oswego Industries, a private nonprofit organization that provides programs and services to adults with mental and developmental disorders.
