Oswego Chalks Up More Victories

Thursday vs. Fulton
As a group we were determined that we would keep our service errors to a minimum and we did what we set out to do.

We only had 1 service error per set against Fulton and we made our presence known at the net with a lot of point blocks.

We lost our previous match to Fulton when we went there and the girls reflected on what we need to do against them this time to change the outcome.

Serving and not allowing them hitting opportunities was the game plan and we did just that.

Saturday – Final OHSL JV League tournament

We finished second in pool play by going 4-2 overall.

First place went to a very aggressive Westhill group who earned the number 1 seed.

With that second place finish we had to play a tough Cazenovia team who played us hard in the gold semifinal match.

We beat them 25-23 and then 25-20 to set up a match against Fulton for the Gold Championship game.

We knew going up against Fulton we had to minimize our errors and keep our serves in play.

We played very aggressive volleyball in both sets against Fulton to win the Gold championship game.

The silver division was won by Solvay by beating the JD team.

This was a great tournament to end our year with.

We had great teams in the gym and a lot of good close matches were played all day.

The OHSL JV tournament players:

Fulton – Liz Roik
Phoenix – Katie George
Cazenovia – Josie Avery
JD – Molly smith
Oswego – Michaela Bradshaw
Lafeyette – Bethany Miller
Westhill – Andrea (last name unknown)
Solvay – Alexa Filicia

This was a good day for our girls – we played tough all pool play long – losing two sets to Westhill set us back and forced us to play harder against Solvay and we did.

Cazenovia gave us a tough match and forced us o play a lot of defense.

When we got into the championship game against Fulton we knew that they were going to give us a good game and they served well at us, but defensively we were well prepared for them and we served very well in the championship game.

I am very proud of how well this group has played throughout all of our tournaments and winning our final one of the season was great.

We close out our season with 3 home games over the next 2 weeks so we need to keep this momentum going to the end.
