Oswego Clearview Squirts Split Games Against Auburn and Camillus

Oswego Clearview defenseman Bryson Bush moves toward the puck in recent action against Auburn. Bush was instrumental in Oswego’s 7-2 win against the Auburn Squirt team.

Oswego, NY –  The Oswego Clearview Squirt hockey team captured a strong win at Auburn 7-2, and lost 1-0 against Camillus in recent Snowbelt League action, according to Oswego Head Coach Eric Koproski.

Oswego is now 14-7-1 overall on the season, and 8-4-1 in the Snowbelt League, following this past weekend’s Novelis Tournament.

“The kids played really hard,” said Koproski. “They were very convincing in the win over Auburn and played very tough against Camillus.”

In their win against Auburn, Oswego fell behind early in the first period 1-0, before responding at the 5:40 mark with their own score from Andrew Noyes, off assists from Spencer Stepien and Patrick Galvin. Auburn quickly added another to go up 2-1 before Oswego’s Nick Burnett found the net off a feed from Alex Koproski and Mason Bricker.

Oswego’s strong backline, led by defensemen Bryson Bush, Lane Phillips, Isaiah Raby, and Burnett, as well as goalie Tyler Wallace held Auburn in check for the remainder of the game.

Oswego, however, would add five more goals over the next two periods including four more for Burnett, and one from Koproski. Stepien added his second assist of the day on a third period goal by Burnett.

Wallace had 11 saves in net and registered his 10th win of the season.

The following day at Crisafulli Rink in Oswego, the Clearview squad took on Camillus – one of the top teams in the Snowbelt League this season, and despite playing strong throughout lost the contest 1-0.

Camillus scored at 6:48 of the first period and held Oswego scoreless. The loss snapped Oswego’s 8-game winning streak.

“This team continues to play hard in every matchup, even despite the loss,” Koproski said. “Three of our five losses have been to Camillus, so the team is hungry for a win against them.”

Wallace had 15 saves and played strong despite the loss.

Oswego’s Jack Stephens and Jeremy Susino also contributed on the offensive end.

Scoring included:
Oswego vs. Auburn: Burnett 5 goals; Koproski 1 goal and 1 assist; Andrew Noyes 1 goal; Stepien 2 assists; Galvin 1 assist; and Bricker 1 assist.

The Oswego Clearview Squirts coaching staff includes: Head Coach Eric Koproski and Assistants Rob Raby, Dennis Brady, and Jason Livesey.
