OSWEGO, NY â€“ Plans are under way for one of the areaâ€™s premier fundraising events, the Oswego Christian Community Schoolâ€™s third annual auction.
Scheduled for May 15, the auction will be held from 1 â€“ 5 p.m. at the Oswego Armory, West First Street.
The event, which serves as a fundraiser for the school, will feature both a silent auction and a live auction.
According to planning committee member Patty Brancato, the event promises to be better than ever.
â€œThanks to the support we have received from the community, our auction has become more and more popular each year,â€ she said.
Brancato added that the committee has been busy contacting area business and gathering items for the auctions.
â€œWe have received excellent support from caring businesses and individuals and are planning on having a wonderful selection of items for our auctions,â€ she said.
Some of the many items that will be available include: an automobile courtesy of Burritt Motors in Oswego; a four-pack of Disney World Park-Hopper passes; an Oswego Speedway Classic Weekend package; a $600 Char-Broil gas grill with accessories; and a number of gift cards from area restaurants, and much more.
A silent auction that will take place from 1 â€“ 3 p.m. followed by a live auction, featuring auctioneer Jim Deacons of Crossroads Auction Center in Central Square, from 3 â€“ 5 p.m.
The event will also include the Oswego Community Christian Schoolâ€™s annual prize drawing.
For a donation of only $10 individuals will have the opportunity to win one of three great prizes including a grand prize of either a seven-night eastern Caribbean cruise for two adults or a $1,000 Visa Card, winnerâ€™s choice; a second prize of a 40-inch LCD flat screen television; and a third prize of either a $250 gas or grocery card, winnerâ€™s choice.
The event will also feature the Oswego Community Christian Schoolâ€™s famous chicken barbecue, which will be available from 1 p.m. until sold out.
Other food and refreshments will also be available.
â€œWe will have items that will appeal to people of all ages,” added Brancato. â€œIn addition to items from our local merchants, our students are also participating, as each class is preparing specially themed baskets filled with an assortment of goodies pertaining to its theme.â€
All proceeds from this event will be used for the continued improvement of the quality of education offered to the students at OCCS.
