OSWEGO – The Friends of Oswego County Hospice has set the date for the 16th annual Oswego County Hospice Cup Regatta. The Summer Solstice themed event will be held on June 20 at the Oswego Yacht Club/International Marina.
Plans for the day-long event, which raised more than $21,000 in 2014, and more than $300,000 total since its inception, are well under way.
Events include the sailing regatta on Lake Ontario, a dedication, silent auction, an afternoon reception and entertainment by the musical duo Ontario.
Funds raised by the regatta directly help Hospice patients and their families by covering the costs of some non-medical expenses.
The Friends of Hospice also uses its resources to maintain the Hospice Volunteer Program.
Friends also use these funds to operate Camp Rainbow of Hope, a free three-day bereavement program for children.
The start time for the sailing races is at 10 a.m. at the Oswego Yacht Club.
Tickets for the reception should be purchased in advance as space is limited. The reception is hosted by Lighthouse Lanes and features a variety of food and beverages donated by Oswego County restaurants.
Local restaurants still interested in donating a dish to the reception or businesses interested in being a sponsor are asked to call 343-5223.
