Recently, the Oswego County Humane Society, (OCHS) received a donation in the amount of $10,000.00 from Oswego resident, Mr. James Harbison. Mr. Harbison donated a similar amount to the organization two years ago, did so again in memory of his loving wife, Mary. His donation to the OCHS is greatly appreciated and will be used to fund the weekly spay/neuter clinics that are held at the office, located at the Oswego Armory.
Oswego County is one of the few counties in New York state that has no county wide shelter. The primary objective of the Oswego County Humane Society is to foster and provide for the humane treatment of animals. The Oswego County Humane Society provides comprehensive county-wide animal welfare services including:
- Spay/neuter programs & assistance
- Rescue & fostering of animals in urgent need
- Adoption of rescued animals
- Assistance for private adoptions
- Humane education programs
- Information & referral
We do not operate a shelter. We receive no government funds and no funds from any national organization and depend upon the generosity of individuals like Mr. Habison and businesses for operating support. For information contact OCHS at 207-1070.
