Oswego County Humane Society To Hold ‘Be Mine’ Adoption Day

OSWEGO, NY – The Oswego County Humane Society will hold its “Be Mine” Adoption Day on February 14 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Oswego PetSmart store in Lowe’s Plaza.

Junior is a sleek, cuddly black youngster with a white tip on his tail. He is very playful and gets along well with young kids and other cats in his foster home. Think how cute he would look with a pink ribbon.

The foster animals appearing at the adoption day will be teenaged or older cats in all shapes, varieties and colors.   People interested in possibly taking a new friend home that day should bring a veterinarian’s reference, written permission from their landlord if they are renters, and a sturdy carrier to bring the cat home.

Or they can email a completed application to the Humane Society at [email protected] for pre-approval before they come to pick out their new best friend.

Adopters without all the required documents can also pick up their adopted cat after the adoption day when the application is complete.

The adoption fee for most of these cats is $75.

They are all spayed or neutered and are up to date on vaccinations and vet care.

Jo Piersma, coordinator of the PetSmart adoption program for the Humane Society, hopes that linking Valentine’s Day to pet adoptions will result in new homes for many of the cats in OCHS foster care.

“Our grown up cats are as quirky, interesting, and affectionate as all the people who love animals generally are, so what better day to say, ‘Be Mine,’ and bring one to his or her forever home?” she said.
