Oswego County Native Appointed to First Sergeant in State Police


Oneida, NY – Superintendent Joseph A. D’Amico has promoted Casey L. Gray, 43, of Pulaski, Oswego County to First Sergeant and assigned him to Troop D Headquarters in Oneida.

F/Sgt Gray was born and raised in Pulaski where he currently lives with his wife Cathy and two children.

Casey started his career as a trooper in Pulaski from 1992-1999, he was than promoted to Sergeant in February of 1999 where he worked in Middletown, Wurtsboro and Watertown. In 2001, he was promoted to Station Commander at SP Fulton where he worked until his promotion to Zone Sergeant in August of 2003 at SP Watertown.

In September of 2004, Sgt. Gray was transferred to the Internal Affairs Bureau Central Region – Audit where he traveled around the state auditing state police stations and units. In May of 2007, he was transferred back to the uniform force as a Zone Sergeant at North Syracuse.

On February 16, 2012, Zone Sergeant Gray was promoted to First Sergeant for Troop D.
The promotion to First Sergeant is the highest non-commissioned officer rank and considered to be a prestigious position, with just 11 First Sergeants in the Division of State Police.

Troop D covers seven counties which include Herkimer, Jefferson, Lewis, Oneida, Onondaga, Oswego and Madison.
