OSWEGO, NY – The Oswego County Republican Committee tonight (Sept. 18) unanimously endorsed Michael C. Backus for County Clerk at Lombardo’s Bridie Manor.
OCRC vice chairman David Fontecchio said, “Michael Backus is the exact kind of leader Oswego County is looking for.”
He continued, “Michael has led the County Republican committee for the past year with great success, but it is his leadership and public service credentials that I think make him such a strong candidate for county clerk.”
“He knows the meaning of hard work, public service and what it means to be a part of our community,” said Charles Fortier, town of Mexico Republican Chairman. “The Backus family is deeply rooted in this community and from their business background to community service, I know Michael is the kind of leader this county needs as clerk.”
“I am honored to accept the Republican nomination for County Clerk,” said Backus. “This campaign is about bringing public service to the people of Oswego County. Every elected official has the responsibility to be accountable to the public and as County Clerk that’s exactly what I’ll do.”
The office of Oswego County Clerk will be on the ballot this November after the death of former clerk George Williams.
Williams served as Oswego County Clerk for more than 30 years.
