Oswego County Sheriff’s Office: Wednesday, 7/22/09


On 7/16/09 at 8:02 p.m., Leonard J. Faulstick, 30, of 231 Peter Scott Rd., Pennellville, NY was operating a 2004 Buell motorcycle south bound on Sutton Rd. in the Town of Schroeppel when he reportedly glanced in his side mirror and didn’t notice a 1979 Suzuki motorcycle being operated by Nicklaus S. Hoyt, 29, of PO Box 63, Pennellville, NY slow down to turn right into a private driveway, causing the vehicles to collide and push Mr. Hoyt’s vehicle to collide with a parked vehicle in the private driveway at 173 Sutton Rd. A passenger on Mr. Faulstick’s vehicle, Kaitlyn M. Sherman, 19, was taken by ambulance to Oswego Hospital. Following too closely seems to have been a contributing factor.

On 7/17/09 at 5:27 p.m., Joshua J. Harrison, 22, of 286 N. Auringer Rd., Constantia was operating a 1994 Honda southbound on CR 10 in the Town of Schroepppel when it allegedly collided with a 1994 Chevrolet van being operated by Robert D. Adams, 49, of 3753 Larkin Rd., Cazenovia, NY 250 feet south of Loreman Rd. of which was traveling northbound. Mr. Adams was transported by ambulance to Crouse Irving Memorial Hospital in Syracuse. Failure to keep right seems to have been a contributing factor.

On 7/17/09 at 4:45 p.m., Samuel L. Tassone, 39, of 26 Church St., Phoenix, NY was operating a 1999 Oldsmobile south on CR 57 in the Town of Schroeppel when a 2004 Chevrolet being operated by Ellis Walberger, 81, of 36 Kent Street, Phoenix, NY entered the roadway from the stop sign at a bank and the vehicles collided. Mr. Walberger was transported to Crouse Irving Hospital in Syracuse, two passengers, Delia E. Walberger, 55 and Dana J. Thomas, 20, were transported by ambulance to Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse. Failure to yield the right of way seems to have been a contributing factor.

On 7/18/09 at 2:55 p.m., Lois J. Turner, 79, of 971 Cayuga St., Fulton, NY was operating a 1999 Ford north on SR 481 in the Town of Schroeppel when the vehicle reportedly exited the west side of the highway striking the guardrail, then entered back on the roadway crossing both lanes and striking the guardrail on the east side of the highway. Ms. Turner was transported by ambulance to Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse. Fatigue seems to have been a contributing factor.

On 7/21/09, Stephan M. Prentice, 46, of 139 Tannery Lane Bldg # 139, Fulton, NY was arrested at 5:00 p.m. for Welfare Fraud, 3rd degree, a class D felony; Grand Larceny, 3rd degree, a class D felony and Filing a False Instrument, 1st degree, a class E felony stemming from the investigation into an incident in which he failed to declare income which would have made him ineligible for benefits received. Mr. Prentice was arraigned in the T/O Mexico Court and ROR’d with a return to Mexico Town Court on 8/4/09.

On 7/21/09 at 6:29 p.m., Karen S. Goppert, 38, of 103 Senior Ave., Fulton, NY was arrested for Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a MV, 3rd degree and Speed Violation following a traffic stop at the intersection of SR 3 and Rathburn Rd. in the Town of Granby. Ms. Goppert was released on UTT’s, returnable to the T/O Granby Court on 8/10/09.
