Oswego County Sheriff’s Office 08/22/2008

On 8/16/08, Glenn Heise, 75, of PO Box 496, Dexter, NY, was operating a 2005 Harley Davidson motorcycle northbound on SR 3 in the Town of Mexico at 6:45 p.m. when he reportedly ran over loose gravel in the roadway at the intersection of SR 104B causing him to lose control.  He went through a stop sign, laid the motorcycle down on SR 104B and crashed into the north side of the highway.  Mr. Heise was transported by ambulance to Genesis Health Center in Jefferson County.  Unsafe speed appears to have been a contributing factor in the incident.

On 8/20/08, Richard D. Shaw, Jr., 45, of 905 Albion Road, Altmar, NY, was operating a 2007 Arctic Cat ATV on a private trail north of SR 104 and Happy Valley in the Town of Williamstown at 2:49 p.m. when his four-wheeler reportedly overturned, ejecting him from his ATV.  Mr. Shaw was transported by ambulance to the Oswego Hospital.  Alcohol and unsafe speed appear to have been contributing factors in the incident.

On 8/21/08, Ronald M. Kettyle, 43, of 1529 CR 54, Central Square, NY, was operating a 2006 Saturn eastbound on CR 15 in the Town of Sandy Creek at 4:56 a.m. when he lost control of the car ½ mile east of CR 22 causing the vehicle to run off the right side of the road and strike a tree at 1733 CR 15.  Mr. Kettyle was transported by ambulance to the Oswego Hospital.  Further investigation found him to be under the influence of alcohol and he was subsequently arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and Crossed Hazardous Road Markings.  He is scheduled to answer the charges before Town of Sandy Creek Court on 9/11/08.  The matter remains under investigation at this time.
