Oswego County Sheriff’s Office 09/02/2008


Members of the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the death of 50 year old Christine M. Reed of 3114 St. Rt. 3 in Woodville, N.Y.  On 09-01-08 Ms. Reed was riding an inflatable tube on Sandy Pond in the Town of Sandy Creek as it was towed behind an 18 ft. Thompson open bow boat that was being operated by Timothy C. Briggs of 14 Pondview Lane, Sandy Creek, N.Y.  It was reported that the inflatable tube struck a wave and flipped over throwing Christine Reed into the water. Christine Reed was wearing a personal floatation device and was pulled from the water and became unresponsive. Christine Reed was transported to University Hospital by Mercy Flight where she was pronounced dead.  The investigation is continuing.

On 8/25/08 at 2:49 p.m., Gretchen M. McCann, 24, of 811 Emery St., Fulton, NY, was driving eastbound on SR 3 in the Town of Hannibal when a crack in her vehicle’s windshield was observed.  Following a traffic stop on CR 7, Ms. McCann was ticketed for Operation While Registration Suspended, No Safety Glass Motor Vehicle, and Operation Without Insurance.  She is scheduled to answer the charges before Town of Hannibal Court on 9/23/08.

On 8/29/08 at 11:29 p.m., Dennis W. Ringler, 38, of 6 Montgomery St., Parish, NY, was charged with Operation While Registration Suspended; Aggravated Unlicensed Operation, Third Degree; and Operation Without Insurance following a traffic stop in the Village of Central Square after a License Plate Reader targeted his vehicle as he drove on SR 49.  Mr. Ringler was released on tickets and is scheduled to answer the charges before Village of Central Square Court on 9/16/08.

On 8/30/08 at 1:36 a.m., William Freeman, 20, of 2068 SR 49, West Monroe, NY, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated; Driving With .08 of One Percent or More of Alcohol; Speed Over the State Speed Limit; Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Accident; and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation, Third Degree following a traffic stop on SR 49 in the Town of West Monroe after he was observed driving at a high rate of speed.  The investigation revealed he had been involved in a one-vehicle accident in the Village of Cleveland where he had lost control and struck a utility pole.  Mr. Freeman was released on tickets returnable to Town of West Monroe Court on 9/22/08.

On 8/30/08 at 9:48 a.m., Michael A. Hufcut, 43, of 398 Hufcut Road, Middleton, NY, was ticketed for Operation While Registration Suspended (insurance lapse on 5/17/08) following a traffic stop after his vehicle was targeted by a License Plate Reader as he drove eastbound on SR 13 in the Village of Pulaski.  Mr. Hufcut is scheduled to answer the charge before Village of Pulaski Court on 9/17/08.

On 8/30/08 at 6:59 p.m., Andrew W. Ives, 47, of 135 CR 44, Mexico, NY, was arrested for Criminal Contempt, First Degree, a class E felony, stemming from a domestic incident during which he violated an Order of Protection.  Mr. Ives was arraigned before Town of New Haven Court and remanded to the Oswego County Correctional Facility in lieu of $2,500 cash bail or $5,000 bail bond.  He is scheduled to return to court on 9/04/08.

On 8/31/08 at 12:30 a.m., Nicole M. Gugula, 24, of 1273 CR 11, West Monroe, NY, was charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation, Second Degree, and Failure to Dim Headlights following a traffic stop in the Town of Parish.  Ms. Gugula was reportedly driving westbound on SR 69 when she failed to dim her headlights as she drove past an eastbound patrol car.  Mr. Gugula was ticketed, released to the registrant of the vehicle she was driving, who came to the scene, and is scheduled to answer the charges before Town of Parish Court on 9/23/08.

On 8/31/08 at 10:28 a.m., Terri L. Tucker, 36, of 13 Green Acres Drive, Lot 102, Central Square, NY, was charged with Operation While Registration Suspended (insurance lapse on 2/25/08); Aggravated Unlicensed Operation, Third Degree; Operation Without Insurance; and Unregistered Motor Vehicle (registration expired 8/20/08), following a traffic stop in the parking lot of the Wal-Mart gas station after a license plate reader targeted her vehicle.  Ms. Tucker was issued tickets returnable to Village of Central Square Court on 9/17/08 and released to a third party.

On 8/31/08 at 12:54 p.m., Meredith W. Louise, 18, of 337 CR 37, Lot 27, West Monroe, NY, was charged with Operation While Registration Suspended (insurance lapse on 7/12/08) and Operation Without Insurance following a traffic stop on SR 49 at Toad Harbor Road after a License Plate Reader targeted her vehicle.  Ms. Louise was released on tickets returnable to Town of West Monroe Court on 9/15/08.

On 9/01/08 at 11:00 a.m., John T. Walker, 31, of 2647 North Mozart St., Chicago, Illinois, was detained by the Oswego City Police Department and turned over to a member of the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office who arrested him based on a Probation warrant issued by the Hon. Walter Hafner, Oswego County Court, charging him with Driving While Intoxicated, a class E felony.  Mr. Walker is being held at the Oswego County Correctional Facility without bail pending a court appearance before Oswego County Court on 9/02/08.

On 9/01/08 at 11:15 a.m., Justin D. Sova, 20, of 232 E. Fifth St., Oswego, NY, was arrested based on a Family Court Warrant charging him with violating Article IV of the Family Court Act (failure to pay support).  Mr. Sova was arraigned before the Hon. Kenneth Adkins, Town of Scriba Court, and remanded to the Oswego County Correctional Facility in lieu of $8,500 cash bail of $15,000 bail bond.  He is scheduled to appear before Oswego County Family Court on 9/02/08.

On 9/01/08, Walter L. Vandelinder, 47, of 787 CR 7, Hannibal, NY, was arrested for Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a class A misdemeanor, stemming from a domestic incident during which he allegedly verbally threatened to kill a male under the age of 17 and threw a softball sized rock at him.  Mr. Vandelinder is scheduled to answer the charge before Town of Hannibal Court on 9/16/08.

On 9/01/08 at 2:21 p.m., Stephen L. Powell, 24, of 34 North St., Pulaski, NY, was arrested for Public Lewdness, a class B felony, after he reportedly exposed himself to others, allegedly offering to pay them to perform a sexual act while in the North Street Park in the Village of Pulaski.  Mr. Powell was issued an appearance ticket and released.  He is scheduled to answer the charge before Village of Pulaski Court on 9/17/08.
