Ms. Whalen was in the process of picking up her children from a residence on Martville Road in the town of Hannibal when Thorpe began spitting on her, troopers said.

The matter reportedly escalated to the point where Thorpe punched Ms Whalen in the facial area and further struck her in the head with a telephone.

This all occurred while Ms. Whalen was holding her one-year-old son, according to reports.

Thorpe also allegedly chased Ms. Whalen outside while holding her own infant son.

Ms. Whalen suffered facial/head lacerations and pain, but initially declined medical attention at the scene.

Thorpe was processed and arraigned on the above charges.

She is to reappear in the Town of Hannibal Court on December 18.

Oswego County Social Services is also involved in the investigation.
