OSWEGO – At 7:15 p.m. Wednesday, Oswego firefighters were dispatched to a residential structure fire on East Ninth Street.

Command reported active fire on the side of the exterior of the home.

Oswego Police were able to confirm quickly that the residence was evacuated, and relayed that information to the fire department.

The fire was knocked down quickly, the area was overhauled, and smoke was ventilated from the home.

While a family was displaced, damage was kept to a minimum and confined to the exterior siding and shed.

The Red Cross is assisting the family with shelter.

All personnel were back in service around 8:30 p.m.

The Oswego Fire Department was assisted at the scene by the Oswego Police Department, US Border Patrol and Menter Ambulance.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
