OSWEGO – The girls’ varsity lacrosse team celebrated its end of season banquet with a few things to hand out for the season.
This year, three of our players were nominated for Section 3 SCAC Empire league Honorable Mention.
Receiving honorable mention was Grace Bruns, Abby Yurkon and McKinley Thompson.
This year’s second team all-league award went to Hannah Koster and to round things out, Madelaine Taylor finished the season as the Team MVP and was selected as first team all-league honors as well.
This group of girls who are receiving these awards are incredibly deserving of them and hard working young ladies.
Abby Yurkon stepped up big for us in the goal this season and had a lot of coaches complimenting on her clearing passing and her accuracy.
Grace Bruns played a huge defensive game all season long for us and caused a lot of turnovers in the D-end of the field.
MIckey Thompson is a lot of fun to watch play the game of lacrosse – she sees the field so well but also can drive to the goal and is always willing to get bumped around to make a play.
Hannah Koster is such a fluid player on the field – she has such a great running stride and gets a ground ball and just goes – she sees the field ahead of her and is always on spot with her decision making.
Maddie Taylor has had a great five-year varsity career with us, achieving 150 career goals is huge for a player and we don’t see these numbers very often in the sport.
She is very deserving of the awards she has received throughout her time here.
We wish all of our five seniors the best as they move on and look forward to continued growth in the program next season.
