Oswego Health Recognizes Former Board Members and Auxiliary President

OSWEGO, NY – Oswego Health honored three board members and the president of the Auxiliary for their years of service to the health system, during a holiday reception held at Springside at Seneca Hill.

Among those lauded was Linda Tyrrell, who was recognized for being a board member for 23 years. She served as chair of the Oswego Hospital board in 1995.

Mary McGowan was also recognized for her 12 years on the board. She was chair of the Oswego Hospital board from 2008 to 2011.

The third board member to be honored was Thomas Schneider, who was recognized for serving as board chair from 2011 to this past July. Schneider is continuing his service on the Oswego Health board.

Along with acknowledging the board members for their dedicated volunteer service to Oswego Health, Barbara Handley-Place, was honored for being an active member of the Oswego Hospital Auxiliary for the past 14 years, serving the past seven as president.

Hanley-Place is stepping down from her role as president, but is remaining active with the auxiliary.

“I would like to thank these individuals for their time, foresight and initiative to ensure exceptional healthcare services are offered locally,” said Oswego Health President and CEO Ann C. Gilpin. “Each of these four individuals has been instrumental in Oswego Health’s efforts to renew its physician retention and recruitment efforts, as well renovate key hospital departments and build new facilities, such as the Central Square and Fulton medical centers. They truly care about their community and that it has the best healthcare services.”
