To earn this prestigious certification, Lakeside Heart Center participated in an application process that required extensive documentation, over a 12-month period, of the program’s practices and patient outcomes.

The AACVPR program certification is the only peer-review accreditation process designed to review individual programs for adherence to standards and guidelines developed and published by AACVPR and other professional societies.

Each program is reviewed by the AACVPR program certification committee and certification is awarded by the AACVPR Board of Directors.

The certification is valid for three years.

As part of the certification process, the Oswego Health staff at the Lakeside Heart Center developed an evidenced based outcome education program that addresses heart risk factor modification, nutrition, depression and cardiac interventions, among other related topics.

At Lakeside, specially-trained registered nurses offer phase II cardiac rehabilitation services and adult fitness classes.

Phase II participations typically take part in 36 sessions and are monitored by state-of-the-art telemetry equipment, which can immediately alert staff of any arrhythmias or other issues.

This equipment also can trend patient data for physicians to review with their patients.

“We are so pleased to have earned this important certification and to be recognized as a leader in the field of cardiovascular rehabilitation,” said Colette Badger, R.N., who along with Kathleen Whitney, R.N. provides care at Lakeside Heart Center. “Our patients can rest assured that they are receiving the best cardiac rehabilitation care, close to their homes.”
