UPDATE: The cause of last night’s house fire at 31 Mercer St appears to be electrical, according to Oswego Fire Chief Jeff McCrobie.
All indications at this time point to wiring inside a wall on the first floor of the structure, according to the City of Oswego Cause and Origin Team.
OSWEGO, NY – An eastside Oswego home was heavily damaged by fire tonight (Dec. 19).
At 8:58 p.m. the Oswego Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 31 Mercer St. in the northeast section of the city.
Upon arrival crews reported smoke and flames coming from the residence.
It took crews about 45 minutes to extinguish the blaze.
No one was home at the time of the fire.
The house was extensively damaged.
The owner of the house is Carol Ensworth, according to fire officials.
The cause is under investigation by the City of Oswego Cause and Origin Team.
There were no injuries.
