Oswego Hospital Hosts Event to Promote Breastfeeding

OSWEGO, NY – Oswego Hospital recently hosted a community breastfeeding shower for expectant and new mothers.

The event promoted breastfeeding and included presentations on proper nutrition, techniques and the benefits to both baby and mom.

The event also included a peer panel and door prizes appropriate for nursing moms.

Representing Oswego Hospital was Kathy Distin, a lactation consultant/educator, who discussed what to expect while in the hospital and the importance of breastfeeding within the first hour of birth.

Oswego Hospital offers a home-like maternity center with private birthing rooms complete with a bathroom with its own large soaking tub.

Board certified physicians are available 24 hours per day.

To extend the best care to newborns, a neonatal nurse practitioner is on staff, as well as a full complement of midwives, nurse practitioners and nurses to help patients and family members through this wonderful experience.
