OSWEGO, NY – Oswego Hospital has welcomed Reza Emami, MD to its emergency room staff.
A physician with experience working in area emergency rooms, Dr. Emani is now providing full-time care in Oswego Hospital’s ER.
Dr. Emani may be a familiar face to some as he had been working part-time in the Oswego Hospital ER, as well as at another area hospital when a full-time local position in Oswego became available.
“I like the patients who seek care in the local emergency room and I really enjoy working with the staff,” Dr. Emami said of his decision to join Oswego Hospital. “It’s also a pleasure to work in this ER facility as it offers a lot of space, has private and clean rooms and layout allows for optimum patient care.”
Dr. Emami earned his undergraduate degree in biology from Rutgers University.
He attended medical school at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, located in New Brunswick, N.J., and completed his internship at Staten Island University and his residency at North Shore University.
He said his interest in becoming a physician was piqued when as a youngster he became curious about the disease process and how the body functioned.
Two siblings have also found careers in the field of medicine, as he has a brother who is also a physician and a sister who is a dentist.
Dr. Emami and his wife have two young children.
In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his family, as well as traveling and reading.
In December 2010, Oswego Hospital opened its new ER that features a comfortable waiting room, private treatment rooms, two trauma rooms that have the latest technology and a central cardiac system that allows staff to monitor the heart rhythms of up to 17 patients.
