OSWEGO, NY – After taking a week off for Oswego’s graduation weekend, Oswego Kartway will re-open on Friday night with MBR Speed Shop Night at the Races at the ‘Bull Ring.’
Friday night’s racing will mark the fifth point event of the season, with championship point battles across all eleven divisions that compete weekly at the tight 1/12 mile clay oval.
Currently all three of the senior Clone divisions sport the closest margins after four events this season.
DJ Shuman holds a slim seven point edge on Dick Dann in Clone Super Heavy, after picking up his first main event win of the season during the ‘King of the Kartway’ back on June 14. Larry Kaylor, Dan Alfred, and Chris Parker complete the top five in the standings as they look to chase down Shuman, who also competes in Clone Heavy.
Clone Light sees just an eight point difference at the top of the standings as Bruce Simmons leads Takota Jacobson. Simmons has yet to pick up a feature win this season, but his daughter Kaylynn is a two-time feature winner in the Light division including a ‘Queen of the Kartway’ win on June 14. Kaylynn Simmons rides third in the standings ahead of Aaron LaTulip, and Aaron Sheldon in the top five.
Clone Heavy sees a 12-point edge for feature winner Joe Hayden over Chris Knight. Super Heavy point leader Shuman sits third with two features wins just ahead of Eric Raponi and Matt Fay in the front five. A total of 14 different drivers have collected points in Heavy this season.
Other championship point leaders include Joshua Ostrander (Sr. Blue Clone), Dylan Trump (Jr. Silver Clone), Alex Losurdo (Jr. Blue Clone), Matthew Barbour (Gold Plate), Dan Kapuscinski (Stock Heavy), Cris Lane (Animal), Corey Norton (Open), and Jake Sivers (Stock Light).
MBR Speed Shop Night at the Races on June 28 will see pit gates open at 4:30pm with hot laps at 6:30pm. The night’s first race will take the green at 7:30pm.
