OSWEGO, NY – Oswego Kartway will officially open its doors for the season on Saturday with a two-hour open practice scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
The Kartway’s test session will be open to any weekly division competing on a regular basis at ‘The Bullring.’ A $10 pit pass will be required to enter the pit area for the practice session.
“Jim Losurdo and I have spoke and as of Monday afternoon we have full plans to run hot laps on Saturday,” said Dan Kapuscinski of Oswego Kartway. “The Kartway racing surface is in good condition, the only issue may be the ability to park haulers due to wet grounds. We have a couple contingency plans in place for practice so we can try and offer our teams some hot laps this weekend. If anything changes we will update everyone on the Oswego Kartway website and through social media.”
The two-hour open session will follow the annual track cleanup day, which will begin at 8 a.m.
All racers and teams are encouraged to come early and help prepare the Kartway for the coming season, even if you do not intend to take any practice laps later in the afternoon.
The Kartway’s cleanup plans will include reassembling the pit area fencing, painting bleachers and other areas of the facility, as well as realigning the outside track barriers.
Any and all fans and community members are welcome to participate and help kick off the racing season at the Kartway.
At the conclusion of the cleanup session, pit selection will also take place for the upcoming 2014 season at approximately noon.
Those racers who renewed their Kartway memberships by the posted deadline will have first opportunity to reclaim their pit spots or change to open spots from the 2013 season.
After all renewed members have selected their spots; all new members will then be able to select spaces in the order in which their memberships were received.
The 2014 racing season at Oswego Kartway begins on April 18 with a non-point warmup race. The first championship point event of the season is scheduled for April 25 presented by Gater Racing News.
