Oswego Kartway Kickoff Postponed Due to Wet Grounds

OSWEGO, NY – Oswego Kartway’s championship Kickoff has been postponed yet again to Friday, May 9 due to continued saturated grounds from a week of rains and gray skies.

With the cancellation the Kartway will now also utilize their second rain date of the season on July 25.

“Earlier in the week we thought the pit area was going to come around, but after plenty of rain the last few days and further inspection through the entire facility late this morning, we have determined that we are simply not dry enough,” said Dan Kapuscinski, Oswego Kartway promoter.  “It is unfortunate. We want to race as bad as anyone else does, but when I cannot get through the grounds in my pickup, with no trailer, without being in 4-wheel drive; it is wet.”

Racing on May 9 will mark the first event counting toward the Oswego Kartway Driver Rewards program, featuring two brand new Slack Xpect racing chassis from Root Racing Enterprises and Performance Manufacturing, which will be awarded to two lucky drivers at the season ending championship banquet.

A 14 division racing card will be on the docket, including a new junior racing division.

Jr. Purple Clone will be added to the racing schedule as a middle ground between Jr. Green Clone and Jr. Blue Clone.  The Jr. Purple class will run at 275 pounds with drivers ranging in ages between 7-11 years old.

Other junior classes include Sr. Blue Clone and Gold Plate flathead.

Senior racing divisions will include Stock Light, Stock Heavy, Stock 425, Clone Light, Clone Heavy, Clone 425, BSP Clone (open pipe, open clutch), Open, and Champ Kart.

Pit gates will open for competitors on May 9 beginning at 4:30 p.m. with hot laps scheduled to hit the Kartway at 6:30 p.m.

Racing is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.

Entry fees for Kartway members will be set at $15 while non-member entry fees are $18, with pit passes included.  Pit passes will also be available for spectators for just $10.

May 9’s racing program will see heat race lineups determined by a pill draw, with feature lineups starting straight up from heat race finishes.

As always spectators are welcome to come to the Kartway and enjoy the racing action with a full concession stand available.

Kartway events run April through September on most Friday nights, culminating with the Fall Frenzy 200 Championships on September 20.
