OSWEGO, NY – Oswego Kartway’s 2017 racing schedule is locked in and for the second year in a row the rundown will include a stop from the karts and stars of the New York Dirt Kart Series on July 29.
The NYDKS spans five different facilities across all corners of the state of New York, bringing with it more than 10 different racing divisions, and an average of more than 150 competitors.
Oswego Kartway’s local schedule includes 21 races of its own, at an average of over 100 competitors per event weekly, making for another tremendous partnership between the NYDKS and the Bullring in 2017.
Oswego’s weekly schedule will open on May 5 with a non-point warm-up event before the Kartway’s annual Kickoff race on May 12 followed by two more point events to close the month of May.
June will see another four weekly championship events for the Kartway, while also taking a week off on June 23 in honor of the high school graduation weekend.
Starting on July 7 the stakes increase at the tight Oswego oval with the running of the King of the Kartway, which opens the three race Summer Shootout series that will end on July 21 before the NYDKS championship takes place on July 29.
August opens with the Battle at the Bullring on August 4, another weekly show on August 11, before the championship seasons ends with the Justin Lamb Memorial Track Championship night on August 18.
The 11th annual Oswego Kartway Classic will take place on August 31 as a part of Budweiser International Classic Weekend at Oswego Speedway with the Kartway’s fall series opening two weeks later.
Jump starting on September 10 the Kartway will run a series of six fall point shows including the fourth running of the Fall Frenzy 150 championships on September 23 featuring a 100-lap, $1,000 to win State Clone event as well as a 50-lap $250 to win small pipe Clone special.
The fall series dates will include Sunday races on September 10, September 17, October 1, October 15 and October 22.
Oswego Kartway’s weekly division structure will consist of seven junior divisions for kids aged 5-15 years old.
Jr. Novice Green Clone and Jr. Green Clone will be joined by Sr. Green Clone, Jr. Purple Clone, Jr. Blue Clone, Sr. Blue Clone, as well as a new division – Jr. Unrestricted.
The Jr. Unrestricted division will be for kids aged 13-15, with children aged 10-12 allowed in the class based on race director approval. The division will utilize senior State Clone motor rules consisting of big pipe exhaust, drum clutch, and no restrictor plate.
Jr. Unrestricted can be run as a second class.
The remaining junior divisions will utilize the color restrictor plate indicated for their class as well the wienie exhaust. All Clone divisions, junior and senior, will follow 2017 AKRA rules in alignment with the NYDKS.
A total of 11 senior classes will start in the mix for 2017, utilizing the same structure as a year ago, with the addition of a weekly PRO State Clone Medium money class.
The PRO State Clone Medium division will run at 360 pounds, following the State Clone rule guidelines, with racers running for a top three purse of $225 weekly, with $100 going to the winner. The division will not run for points.
With the addition of this class, State Clone participants can only use PRO State Clone Medium as their second class. Meaning participants have to choose between State Clone Light or State Clone Heavy to run for points, with Medium allowed as a second class for the night.
Other weekly senior divisions include Clone Light, Clone Medium, Clone Heavy, and Clone Super Heavy – all utilizing the wienie pipe.
Joining these divisions will be FH Stock Medium, Masters Clone/FH for racers aged 35 and up, Champ, and Open.
