OSWEGO, NY – Oswego Kartway officials have announced the tentative 2016 racing schedule and division structure for the Bullring.
The Kartway’s tentative plans show at least 16 scheduled race meets, beginning in early May and running through the month of September, with a total of 12 point events on tap for the 2016 track championship.
The point season will open on May 13, with three consecutive championship events following through Memorial Day Weekend.
Last year’s postponed Fall Frenzy 200 will open the month of June on June 4 with two more point events to follow on June 10 and June 17 before taking the weekend of June 24 off for the high school graduation weekend in Oswego.
The July portion of the schedule will see the return of the Summer Shootout series, which will include events on July 1, 8, 15 and 22.
The popular King of the Kartway will be a part of the series on July 8.
The championship schedule begins to wind down in the month of August with the running of the Battle at the Bullring on August 5, another weekly event on August 12, before track championship night on August 19 settles all division championships.
Divisions running for championships in 2016 will include Jr. Green Clone, Sr. Green Clone, Jr. Purple Clone, Jr. Blue Clone, Sr. Blue Clone, Stock Medium, Clone Light, Clone Medium, Clone Heavy, Clone Super Heavy, State Clone Light, State Clone Heavy, Masters Clone/FH, Champ and Open.
State Clone Light and State Clone Heavy are two new Kartway divisions in 2016, following the guidelines of the NYDKS state karting tour. These divisions will feature the Clone engine with a drum clutch, and a large exhaust pipe. There will be no claim rule in these divisions.
Masters Clone/FH is another new division in ’16, with drivers required to be aged 35 or higher to compete, weighing in at 200pounds or more. This division will allow Clone or FH motors to compete.
Oswego Kartway’s overall schedule will conclude in 2016 with the 10th running of the Oswego Kartway Classic on September 1 as well as the 2016 Fall Frenzy 200 on September 24.
There are at least two other portions of the schedule still to be potentially completed, and a final schedule will be announced once finalized.
