Oswego Kicks off Music in Our Schools Month

“Music in Our Schools Month” puts the spotlight on hundreds of Oswego City School District students.

March is annually the time for a large variety of musical performances throughout the Oswego City School District.

As always the concerts are free to the community and it is a perfect opportunity to see the development of musicians and vocalists.

A few school district musical groups will get a head start on the “March” event.

Beginning on Wednesday, February 27 at 7:30 p.m. the Charles E. Riley Elementary chorus will take to the stage at the Oswego High School Robinson-Faust Theatre for the Performing Arts and will be joined by the Oswego High School choirs and the Oswego Middle School choruses.

On Thursday, February 28, the Minetto Bands will perform at 7 p.m. on the OHS stage.

Saturday, March 2, one of the musical highlights of the month will be the annual Oswego High School Bands “Festival of the Winds” with guest artist Tony Joseph. Music begins at 7 p.m.

On Monday, March 4, the Fitzhugh Park orchestra, concert band, and fifth and sixth grade chorus concert will be held at the east side school gymnasium at 7 p.m.

Minetto Elementary School fourth, fifth and sixth grade chorus students will present the stage production of “Cinderella” on Wednesday, March 6 at 7 p.m.

The Charles E. Riley Elementary School orchestra and concert bands will perform at CER in the all-purpose room at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 14

Also scheduled for March 14 is the annual Kingsford Park Elementary School musical as “Alice in Wonderland” will take the stage at the Robinson-Faust Theatre.

The Minetto Strings Extravaganza is scheduled for Tuesday, March 19 at 7 p.m.

On Thursday, March 21 the Kingsford Park orchestra concert is scheduled for the KPS gym at 7 p.m.

The Frederick Leighton Elementary School choral concert will be held on Monday, March 25 at the OHS theatre.

On Tuesday, March 26 the Oswego Middle School bands and musicians from SUNY Oswego will perform at 7:30 p.m. at the Robinson-Faust Theatre.

Also on tap for Tuesday, March 26 will be the Frederick Leighton Orchestra concert at 7 p.m. in the FLS all-purpose room.

Meanwhile, on March 27 the Oswego High School and Oswego Middle School
orchestra concert will begin at 7:30 p.m.
