Oswego Library Announces April Programs

OSWEGO – April programs are blooming at the Oswego Public Library.

Enjoy live music and poetry on April 6 in Life, the Human Experience.

Search for Easter Eggs and Zumba off some calories on April 15 in the Children’s Room.

Escape to the Emerald Isle on April 17 with author and harpist Deirdre McCarthy in the Children’s Room.

And don’t miss the unveiling of a brand new Children’s Play Center on  April 29.

Life, the Human Experience is produced by poet Stephen Brace and musician Eileen Rose.

Their show will be in our Community Room at 1 p.m. April 6.

Rose has been playing Appalachian Dulcimer (Mountain Dulcimer) for 14 years.  She studied Mountainstyle, Bluegrass, Folk and Old-Tyme Gospel and plays solo and in bands around the Syracuse area.

She was nominated for a Syracuse People’s Choice Award with her band Genesee Ted.

Brace has been writing since he was 14 and graduated from Hamilton College.

He is a founding and participating member of the Manlius Writers’ Group and has also acted in several roles on the stage and in street theater.

Zumba with an Easter Egg Hunt is run by Susan Mayer.

It will be on the Upper Level at 1:30 p.m. on April 15.

She runs classes at the Fulton Public Library, Fulton YMCA, and Oswego Health and is an instructor at Cayuga Community College.

McCarthy’s Ireland features Irish stories, music, and more.

The author of The Rescue of Fairy Queen Maeve will be in the Children’s Room at 1 p.m. April 17.

Born in Ireland, Deirdre will share her love of her native land, play music, and regale us with stories.

Her book will be available for purchase and signing after the event.

Funding has been acquired and Art Jones is hard at work building a new Early Learning Play Center as a permanent addition to our Children’s Room offerings.

The ribbon-cutting and unveiling will be at 1:30 p.m. on April 29 with plenty of thank yous and short speeches.

Stay for cookies and punch or simply to play.

Additionally, the Friends of the Library will host romance author Nancy Henderson at 2 p.m. on April 29.

Her book will be available for purchase and signing after the event.

Refreshments will be served.

The Oswego Public Library is open every day of the week.

We are open until 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday and until 5 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
