“We continue a Lions Club tradition once again this year with a great night of laughs,” said Mike Henderson, Oswego Lions Club president. “This event has always been a popular fundraiser and we anticipate that this will be another great one.”

The event is a major fundraiser for the local service organization and helps to support ongoing programs and services throughout the Oswego community for the visually and hearing impaired.

Proceeds from the past fundraising events have helped to support Make a Wish Foundation, Oswego Salvation Army, The ER’s Children Fund at Oswego Hospital, Oswego Library Capital Campaign, The Children’s Hospital in Syracuse, and Habitat for Humanity, to name just a few.

This year, the adult themed comedy night will show case Vinnie Mark and Mike Speirs.

Mark has been performing comedy and magic for the past 20 years. He began his career in an Improv Group called “The Laughter Company” with Bob Nelson and Rosie O’Donnell.

He then went on to be a solo performer and has appeared on “Late Night With David Letterman,” “Comedy on the Road,” and “VH-I Stand-Up Spotlight.”

He has opened for Kevin James, Ray Romano, Gilbert Godfried, Dennis Wolfberg, Brett Butler, Crosby Stills & Nash, Rodney Dangerfield and many others.

He has performed at many of the nation’s best venues such as Las Vegas’ legendary MGM and Caesars Hotels, Atlantic City’s prestigious Caesars and Borgat hotels and the Pocono’s Caesars Hotel.

In addition, he regularly entertains passengers on the Royal Caribbean and Norwegian cruise lines.

Mark has “opened” for comedians Rodney Dangerfield, Gilbert Gottfried and David Spade as well as the musical group Crosby, Stills & Nash. He has also toured with country singer Randy Travis. In addition, the USO enlisted him to entertain troops in Iraq, Saudi Arabia and Qatar.

Mark’s television appearances include The Rosie ‘O Donnell Show, Late Night with David Letterman, Stand-up Spotlight and Fox TV’s Comic Strip Live. He can also be seen in the film Grown Ups.

Mark’s best trick is to change traditional magic into non-stop laughs before your very eyes. Mark delivers joke after joke, gag after gag and leaves audiences on their feet with a real live straightjacket escape! Las Vegas slick and Sunday School proper, alchemist Mark transforms audience participation, one-liners and a few surprises into pure platinum.

Speirs is a very funny NYC based comedian whose likeability and storytelling ability allows him to connect with any audience.

On stage he examines who he is, what he was, and who he hopes to become.

Now in his mid 30s, he is coming to grips with being a full fledged adult. Whether he is reminiscing about his days as a heavy drinking party boy, discussing the joy and pain that was his career as a public school teacher or lamenting over his failure with the fairer sex and inability to recapture the slender physique he never had, his act is  fresh, honest and very funny.

“The performances of Mark and Speirs promise to bring the crowd a good night of laughs,” said Chris Pelton, chairperson of the event.

Tickets can be purchased prior to the show at Cakes Galore for $12. Anyone interested in purchasing tickets or looking for more information about the show can contact Pelton at 343-1394 or visit our facebook page at www.facebook.com/oswegolionsclub

The Lions Club will provide pizza, and a cash bar will also be available by the Foundry.

“We look forward to another great crowd and another wonderful event that benefits the many great causes that the Oswego Lions Club supports,” said Henderson.

The Lions Club has made available to local businesses and the public, an opportunity to purchase a reserved table.

The table includes reserved seating for 10 people and recognition in our press releases and the night of the show. Tables can be reserved by contacting Pelton at 343-1394.
