“We continue a Lions Club tradition once again this year with a great night of laughs, said Becky Trenca O’Kane, Oswego Lions Club President. “This event has always been a popular fund-raiser and we anticipate that this will be another great one.”

The event is a major fundraiser for the local service organization and helps to support ongoing programs and services throughout the Oswego community for the visually and hearing impaired.

Proceeds from past fundraising events have helped to support The Book Mobile, The Children’s Museum of Oswego, “H” and Mary Dowd $2000 Annual Scholarship Fund, Friends of Camp Hollis, The Oswego Library Capital Campaign, The Golisano Children’s Hospital, The United Way Stone Soup Food Pantry, Stuff a Bus, “There is no Magic in Drugs” (a drug awareness program for all the elementary schools) and The Oswego Little League, just to mention a few.

This year, the adult-themed comedy night will showcase headliner and veteran comic Nick Sterio and Erica Spera as opener.

Sterio is an Oswego native who is returning to his hometown for a night of comedy. He has more than 20 years of experience making jokes and laughing with audiences the world over, touring with various other artists to entertain US troops everywhere from Korea to Afghanistan and Iraq.

He was the recent winner of the Jacksonville Comedy Fest on the heels of his win in Tampa’s Laugh fest, and Standup/Showdown winner. He comes home to OZ to entertain in his hometown and has maintained his hometown appeal in that he is always introduced as being from Oswego NY.

He most recently has been appearing in several comedy clubs throughout the Southeast.

Erica Spera
Erica Spera

Spera is a NYC-based comedian from Binghamton and describes herself as the girl next door who’s tall, dark and one of the guys.

After graduating from St. Lawrence University, she moved from being a starting member of the basketball team to working with her family in Carlo’s Bakery.

While eating too much cake, she pursued her lifelong dream in New York City where she developed into a sharp, observant and clever comedian.

Being clean with an edge, Spera describes her days playing sports, relationship struggles, and growing up with a tight-knit family in the millennial world.

She hosts a weekly podcast, 20 Minutes of Fire on iTunes and SoundCloud and is the producer of 607 Comedy, where she hosts charity shows throughout the Upstate New York area.

When she isn’t having dinner with her ridiculously large family, you can find her performing nightly all over the Big Apple; doing stand up at bars, colleges, and comedy clubs such as Gotham, Caroline’s, New York Comedy Club, The Stand, and The Creek & the Cave and you may have seen her on TLC’s Cake Boss.

She recently made her stand up TV debut on Gotham Comedy LIVE on AXSTV, and her first Sirius XM appearance on Andy Cohen’s channel.

“The performances of Sterio and Spera promise to bring the crowd a good night of laughs, “said Michelle Higgins, chair of the event.

For your preshow listening pleasure, Cam Caruso will be playing from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
