On 6/7/18 at 8:53 p.m., Steven M. Haynes, 34, of 2030 CR 1, Oswego, NY was arrested for Assault, 1st degree, a class B felony; Attempted Murder, 2nd degree, a class A felony and Criminal Possession of a Weapon, 3rd degree, a class D felony following an incident that occurred in the village of Mexico.
Police say he intentionally stabbed the victim in the right temple with a screwdriver.
Mr. Haynes was arraigned in the Town of Mexico Court and remanded to the OCJ held without bail and is scheduled to return to court on 6/12/18.

MEXICO – On Thursday (June 7) at approximately 2:45 p.m., members of the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office and New York State Police responded to a possible stabbing outside the DSS building in the village of Mexico.
Upon arrival, a male victim was found with a stab wound to the head.
The suspect had fled the scene prior to law enforcement’s arrival.
The victim was transported via McFee Ambulance to University Hospital, Syracuse.
The suspect, Steven M. Haynes, of Oswego, was located in the town of Mexico and taken into custody.
Haynes was transported to the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office and arrested for Attempted Murder, Assault in the First Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree.
He was arraigned in the Town of Mexico Court and remanded without bail.
The incident is still under investigation.
