OSWEGO, NY – An Oswego resident is in custody, the result of an investigation that occured in January.
On January 31, pursuant to information obtained during the course of an unrelated investigation, members of the Oswego City Police Department, including the Anti-Crime Team, Criminal Investigations Division, and Patrol Division, conducted a consent search of the residence located at 1269 County Route 53, Apt. 1, Oswego.
Oswego Police were assisted by the Oswego County Sheriff’s Department.
As a result of the consent search, police discovered and seized a Remington 870 shotgun, which had been altered to an illegal state. Specifically, the barrel had been shortened, or ‘sawed off.’
Police also seized what appeared to be two homemade silencers for the shotgun and two other long guns which were secured for safe keeping.
20-year-old resident Nicholas M. Ferlito was arrested at the Oswego City Police Department on March 14 at 1:28 p.m. and charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree (D felony), and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree (A Misdemeanor).
Ferlito was arraigned and remanded to the Oswego County Correctional Facility in lieu of $1,000 cash bail or $2,000 bail bond.
He is scheduled to appear in the Town of Scriba Court on April 5 at 7 p.m.
