OSWEGO – The Oswego will host auditions for its summer production, the 1960 musical, The Fantasticks on June 11 from 7 until 9 p.m. at the Frances Marion Brown Theater.
The Fantastics was written by Harvey Schmidt with lyrics by Tom Jones.
The show tells an allegorical tale of two neighbors who try to trick their children into falling in love by pretending to feud.
The New York production of The Fantastics ran off Broadway for 42 years making it the longest running musical in history.
The Oswego Players’ production of The Fantastics will be directed by Oswego Players’ President Emeritus Inez Manor Parker with music director Abel Searor.
The auditions are open to all area actors.
The show requires a young couple in their late 20s to early 30, two fathers in late 40s to early 50s.
The mute is ageless.
El Gallo is 50ish and the three odd men are 60s to 70s.
Those auditioning will be asked to read from the script and sing 16 bars of music (bring your own music, if not from the script).
The Fantastics is scheduled to be performed on July 7, 8, 13, 14 and 15 at the Frances Marion Brown Theater.
