Oswego Players To Present ‘Silent Night, Lonely Night’

OSWEGO, NY – Oswego Players’ director Richard Mosher is busy rehearsing his cast for a different type of Christmas play.

You may never have heard of “Silent Night, Lonely Night” by Richard Anderson, but it has been around a while.

In 1969, it was presented on TV and included some very well-know stars – Lloyd Bridges, his son, Jeff, Shirley Jones and Cloris Leachman to name a few.

Mosher summarizes the plot as follows: “Over the Christmas holidays in a small New England college town, a man (Bridges Sr.) and woman (Jones) share a brief interlude. He is there to visit his wife who is a mental patient at the uUniversity. She is visiting her son, a student, after discovering her husband’s infidelity.  It is a heart-throb of a drama.”

Jon Altman and Julia Preston will play the lead roles in this gently philosophical play about the rigors of marriage.

Other cast members are Amanda Mosher, Quinn Etchie, Knate Roy and Ryan Smith.

Production dates are scheduled for Dec. 3 and 4 at 8 p.m.; Dec. 9 and 10 also at 8 p.m.; with a matinee on Dec. 11 at 2 p.m. in the Frances Marion Brown Theatre, Fort Ontario Arts Complex.

Ticket prices are $10/adults, $8/seniors and $7/students.

They may be reserved by calling the Players’ Box Office at 343-5138.
