Oswego Police Announce Felony Drug Arrests


OSWEGO, NY – The Oswego City Police Department has recently made the following Felony arrests:

On Monday December 16, members of the Oswego City Police Department arrested Luke D. Potter, 26, of 532 Kingdom Road, Oswego, as a result of two separate investigations conducted by the Anti -Crime Team.

Potter was charged with one count of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree, Class B Felony based upon an alleged sale of two bags of heroin, to another individual, in the area of West Fifth Street and Prospect Street on September 16.

Potter was additionally charged with one count each of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree and Criminal Possession of Marihuana in the 5th Degree, both Class A Misdemeanors.

These charges were based upon Potter allegedly being found to be in possession of both marihuana and illegally possessed prescription medication on November 14 in the area of the River Walk Rail Trail near East First and East Oneida streets.

Potter was arraigned in Oswego City Court on all of the charges and remanded to the Oswego County Correctional Facility in lieu of $1,000 cash bail or $2,000 secured bail bond.

Also, on Thursday December 19, investigators of the Anti- Crime Team arrested Nathan D. Redmond, 20, of 272 Cherry St., Oswego, and charged him with the following:

Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree- with intent to sell, Class B Felony
Criminal Possession of Marihuana in the 4th Degree, Class A Misdemeanor

This arrest stems from an investigation into Redmond allegedly selling / possessing cocaine and marihuana within the city of Oswego.

ACT investigators, along with the Oswego City Police Department’s K-9 Unit, recovered approximately 10 grams of cocaine and 182 grams of marihuana on December 19 that it is alleged Redmond possessed with intent to sell.

Redmond was arraigned in Oswego City Court and remanded to the Oswego County Correctional Facility in lieu of $5,000 cash / $10,000 secured bail bond.

Redmond is scheduled to reappear in Oswego City Court on February 19 at 1:30 p.m.

Today (Friday December 20), members of the Anti-Crime Team arrested Rebecca S. Russell, 45, of 81 E. Eighth St., Oswego, and charged her with the following:

Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the 5th Degree, Class D Felony
Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 5th Degree- with intent to sell, Class D Felony

This arrest is based upon an investigation into Russell selling prescription medication to another individual on September 16 in the city of Oswego.

Russell was arraigned in Oswego City Court and released on her own recognizance.

She is scheduled to return to Oswego City Court on February 19 at 1:30 p.m.
