OSWEGO, NY – On Wednesday at approximately 5:30 p.m., investigators with the Oswego City Police Department’s Anti-Crime Team (ACT) detained two individuals at 437 State Route 104 in the city of Oswego.
This was a result of the Oswego City Police Department’s continued efforts to combat the possession and trafficking of illegal drugs.
A search warrant was subsequently applied for and granted for the individuals’ vehicle. The vehicle was searched and investigators reportedly recovered 25 tablets of prescription narcotics as well as two vials of anabolic steroids that are alleged to have been possessed with the intent to sell.
The two individuals were criminally charged in Oswego City Court as follows:
Joshua M. Sprague, 31, of 6115 State Route 104 Mexico – Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd degree, with intent to sell – Class B Felony and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 5th degree, with intent to sell – Class D Felony.
Wendi M. Czirr-Sprague, 38, 6115 State Route 104 Mexico – Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd degree, with intent to sell – Class B Felony and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 5th degree, with intent to sell – Class D Felony.
The investigation further led to a search warrant being executed at the Spragues’ residence in Mexico.
Assistance was provided by the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office.
Numerous items including prescription medication and substances alleged to be anabolic steroids were seized as a result of the search, according to the police report.
Additional charges are pending regarding this portion of the investigation and are likely in the future.
Both defendants were arraigned in Oswego City Court on the above listed charges and remanded to the Oswego County Correctional Facility.
Joshua Sprague had bail set at $2,500 cash or $5,000 bail bond.
Wendi Czirr-Sprague’s bail was set at $1,200 cash or $2,500 bail bond.
Both are due back in Oswego City Court on May 21 at 1:30 p.m.
