Oswego Police Remind Motorists – Click it or Ticket

OSWEGO, NY – Motorists are reminded that the month of May is “Buckle Up New York Click it or Ticket 2015.”

New York will be participating in a “Border to Border” effort.

New York law enforcement agencies will join those from ten other states – Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia and West Virginia – to team up in a Click It or Ticket “Border to Border” enforcement and public education operation.

The Oswego Police Department’s goal is to increase seat belt use to prevent deaths and serious injuries from motorists involved in crashes.

From May 18 – 31 members of the Oswego Police Department will be out strictly enforcing seat belt violations.

New York State Seat belt law:

Who must wear safety restraints?
– All front seat occupants regardless of age. The driver is responsible for all front seat passengers under age 16.
– All rear seat passengers under age 16.
– All children under 4 years old must be restrained in a federally approved child safety seat.
– Children ages 4, 5, 6 and 7 must be properly restrained in an appropriate child restraint system, one that meets the child’s height and weight recommendations according to the child restraint manufacture.
