BINGHAMTON, NY – Oswego Speedway has always had a rich Modified racing tradition. That will continue in 2011 as the speedway is preparing to announce the return of the Modified 200 on Saturday of the International Classic Weekend. The Saturday, Sept. 3rd date will also serve as a stop on the Race of Champions Asphalt Modified Tour Schedule.
The Classic Weekend Modified 200 will be the final of three RoC dates scheduled for Oswego Speedway in 2011. The first event will take place on Saturday, May 28th. The 75 lap Memorial Day Weekend event will also serve as a shakedown for the Sunoco Race of Champions Modified 200 scheduled for Saturday, July 23rd.
RoC Asphalt Modified Tour Coordinator Andrew Harpell remarked, “The addition of the Modified 200 on Classic Weekend certainly brings back memories of the former events held in conjunction with the Classic.” “We are happy to be involved with such a great weekend and look forward to the opportunity for our race teams.”
With the move of the Sunoco Race of Champions Modified 200 to July the Labor Day Weekend Modified 200 will have a big impact on the outcome of the 2011 RoC Tour Championship. Last season saw an influx of young talent on the RoC Tour and this year should prove to be one of the most exciting in recent memory.
The complete 2011 RoC Asphalt Modified Tour schedule will be out in the next few days.
