Oswego Speedway Classic Week Quickly Approaching

OSWEGO, NY – Budweiser International Classic Weekend is just a little over one week away at the famed Oswego Speedway.

Make your plans now to attend one of the biggest racing weekends in the country, and no doubt the biggest Supermodified race in the world.

Classic Week kicks off at Lighthouse Lanes in Oswego, just across from the Speedway, on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Tuesday (Aug. 28) The Tom Baker Radio Show will run live from 8-10 p.m. inside the Hall of Fame Lounge at Lighthouse Lanes.

Based in Charlotte, NC, the program will air live to ESPN 730-AM in Charlotte as well as live online at 3widelife.com

Scheduled guests include Pat Lavery, Dave Gruel, Johnny Benson, and Andrew Schartner. More guests will be lined-up in the coming days. The show is being co-sponsored by Lighthouse Lanes and Burke’s Do-It-Best Home Centers.

The next evening (Aug. 29), will be the annual Racing Rolling Classic Bowling party at Lighthouse Lanes.

The party will kick off at 6 p.m. and benefit the Ataxia Foundation.

Classic Week gets under way on Speedway grounds on Aug. 30 with the Classic Super Cruise and Party in the Pits.

Infield parking begins at 5 p.m. with Syracuse Nationals car judging beginning at 6 p.m.

Music will be provided by Ron Gray’s Millennium Music.

Joining the party this year will be Good Times of Oswego and Airhop with several inflatable bounce houses for the youngsters in the crowd to enjoy.  The collection of bounce houses will be on display to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Airhop and Good Times of Oswego.

Also on hand for the young kids in attendance will be Hayley Star: Balloon Artist, as she will be providing balloon animals for kids of all ages.

Joining Hayley will be Jessica Hofschulte, who will be inside the Speedway with a face painting and ‘Whoo Hair’ station to add color, glitter, sparkle, and fun to any hair for a new you.

On track action at Budweiser International Classic Weekend begins on Aug. 31 with Bud Select 55 Night at the Speedway.

Pit gates will open at 10 a.m., with practice getting under way at noon.

Grandstand gates will be open and free to the public from noon – 4 p.m. during practice.

At 4 p.m. the grandstands will be cleared, and the stands will re-open at 4:30 p.m. for tickets sales.

Racing action will get under way at 6 p.m. on Aug. 31 featuring the dirt Sportsman Classic 30 as well as Bud Light SBS Classic heat races and Top 14 time trials for the Budweiser International Classic 200 and the Novelis Supermodifieds.

The schedule for Sept. 1 will go as follows:

Pit gates will open at 1:30 p.m. with practice running from 3:30 – 4:30 p.m.

Grandstand gates will open for ticket sales at 3:30 p.m., at the beginning of hot laps.

Racing will get under way starting with ISMA Supermodified time trials at 5 p.m., followed by qualifying heats for the ATQMRA TQ Midgets, the Bud Light SBS Classic consi, ISMA Supermodified heats, the TQ feature, ISMA consi, and then the final two feature events of the night including the Bud Light SBS Classic 60.

Classic Sunday will start very early, with pit gates opening at 7:30 a.m.

Grandstand gates will open at 9:30 a.m. at the beginning of hot laps.

The second round of time trials for the Budweiser International Classic 200 will go off at noon, with racing to follow.

The International Classic 200 is scheduled to begin at approximately 3 p.m.

Tickets are on sale now for Budweiser International Classic Weekend through the Oswego Speedway box office, located just outside of the main pit gate at the Speedway.

Box office hours are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Three day adult general admission passes are $104, while reserved three day admissions are $115.  Three day kids’ admission, ages 6-16, is $35, while children ages 5 and under are FREE for the weekend.

Individual day general admission prices are as follows: Friday – $25, Saturday – $42, and Sunday – $52.

Oswego Speedway events run May through September on most Saturday nights, culminating with the Fall Championship 75 on September 15.
