OSWEGO, NY – For the first time, Oswego Speedway has been named Best Short Track in the annual 51s presented by JEGS on speed51.com.
With thousands of votes counted, fans from all across the country selected Oswego as the short track providing the highest quality entertainment for all involved in 2016.
With the introduction of NAPA Auto Parts Super DIRT Week to the schedule in 2016, dropping clay on the Speedway for the first time since 1952, Oswego hosted more big events than nearly any other facility in the country, filling the grandstands on more than one occasion.
From the Memorial Day Weekend ‘Super Spectacle’ to the $10,000 to win Mr. Novelis Supermodified as well as Budweiser International Classic Weekend, and Race of Champions Weekend; Oswego Speedway provided something for everyone last season.
Included in those events were stops from top touring series such as the International Supermodified Association, the Race of Champions Asphalt Modified Series, the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour, the Super DIRTcar Series, as well as the weekly fixture of Novelis Supermodified and Pathfinder Bank SBS action.
By winning this year’s 51 Award for Best Short Track, Oswego becomes the 10th different track to win the award in 11 years.
Eldora Speedway (Ohio), the 2015 winner of the award on Speed51.com, finished second in the voting. Eldora, nationally known as one of the top dirt tracks in the country, hosted a magnitude of major events in 2016 including the World 100, Dirt Late Model Dream, Four Crown Nationals and the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.
Weedsport Speedway, a track known for its Big-Block Modified action, finished on the podium after a successful 2016 season.
Fairgrounds Speedway Nashville (Tennessee) and Madison Speedway (Wisconsin) rounded out the top five in the voting.
