Oswego, NY – The Oswego Squirt 1 Hockey Team scored three unanswered goals in the third period to rally and win 4-2 against Camillus in recent Snowbelt League action.
Oswego’s Spencer Stepien had 2 goals and 1 assist, and Aidan Taylor 2 goals to lead the Bucs. Oswego goalie Brandon Demling earned the victory in net with 17 saves.
Oswego jumped out to a 1-0 lead late in the first period, when Stepien got through the Camillus defense and netted a wrist shot past the opposing goalie. Camillus answered with a goal of their own just seven seconds later to tie it at one apiece.
Camillus would take a 2-1 lead into the third period, before Oswego erupted for three goals. Stepien got things started at the 7:58 mark with an unassisted wrap around goal. Aidan Taylor would follow with two breakaway goals later in the period, one off an assist by Stepien, to finish the Buc rally and secure the 4-2 win.
“What a comeback in the third period,” said Oswego Head Coach Dan Taylor. “It was great team victory with everyone contributing on offense and defense.”
According to Taylor, Oswego’s Demling continued his strong play in goal, and the efforts of Billy Waterbury, Alex Thorpe, JJ Harter, Alex Vescio, Ethan Rando, Bryson Bush, Cole Cullinan and Derek Sabatini were also keys in the win.
