Dover, Del. – The Oswego State baseball team wrapped up its weekend play with a 4-2 victory over New Jersey City in a seven-inning, rain-shortened game.
With the win, Oswego improves its early-season record to 2-1.
Trailing 1-0 after four innings, the Lakers were able to score two runs in the bottom of the fifth and tacked another two on in the sixth to secure the victory.
Mike McMullen led the way for Oswego, going 2-for-3 with an RBI. Also finishing with two hits on the afternoon was Kyle Liner. Liner also finished with a run scored.
Scott Buniak, Tyler Baker and Tim Smith each finished with a hit while Buniak, Baker and Dan Saccocio scored the other three Laker runs.
Oswego was aggressive on the base paths, as Saccocio, Buniak, Liner and Baker all finished with a steal.
On the mound, Jordan Giller scattered six hits over 5.1 innings, allowing just two earned runs while fanning two batters.
Sophomore right-hander Josh Martin entered the game for the final 1.2 innings, earning the victory with no runs, two hits and three strikeouts.
Oswego will return to action at noon on Saturday when it travels to Purchase, N.Y. for a doubleheader with Manhattanville.
