HOUGHTON, N.Y. – Despite soggy course conditions, the Oswego State women’s and men’s cross country teams recorded second- and third-place finishes at the Houghton Invitational.
The Laker women posted 77 points, while the men’s squad tallied 116 points. The RIT women and the Brockport men took home the team titles.
Katie Laris (Fr., Clay, N.Y.) recorded the seventh-fastest 5K time in program history with a time of 19:17 to finish sixth out of 116 runners. Meghan Murphy (So., Dix Hills, N.Y.) was the next Laker to cross the finish line with a time of 19:35, which was good for tenth place. Christina Sakowski (Jr., Cicero, N.Y.) placed 15th with a result of 19:47. Noelle Crocetti (Fr., Webster, N.Y.) and Marta Tomaszewski (Fr., Rockaway Beach, N.Y.) rounded out the scoring five with Top 25 finishes, as Crocetti was 22nd (20:21) and Tomaszewski was 25th (20:26).
On the men’s side, Ben Sweet (Sr., Pine Bush, N.Y.) paced Oswego State with a 12th-place showing out of 130 competitors after clocking a time of 27:19.30. Damian Archie (Jr., Binghamton, N.Y.) was not far behind in 14th with a time of 27:29. Kyle Gilyard (Jr., Endicott, N.Y.) posted a time of 28:14 for 31st place, while Nick Reinsdorf (So., Niverville, N.Y.) and Sean Lyons (Fr., Kingston, N.Y.) turned in times of 28:29 and 28:31, respectively.
Oswego State has another weekend off before competing in the Hamilton Invitational.
