OSWEGO, NY – Eric Summers has been hired as Oswego State’s Associate Athletic Director and will assume his position in early June. Summers comes to Oswego by way of Hamilton College where he coached the Continentals crew program for more than a decade.
Summers will have a wide array of roles in his new position at Oswego, including compliance and corporate sponsorship components.
Under his guidance at Hamilton, more than 10 student-athletes have been named to the NESCAC All-Conference teams in just the last four years and two athletes were named All-American.
Summers has also coached several athletes into national prominence as one former rower went on to compete with the United States National team at World Rowing Cup regattas in Switzerland and Australia while another collected a bronze medal in the African Championships.
Prior to Hamilton, Summers had the reigns of the men’s varsity program at Colgate University for two years. His lightweight eights earned a No. 1 seed in the Champion International Collegiate Regatta and the first national ranking in program history, and he helped Colgate win team titles at the 2000 Patriot League and state championships.
The new associate athletics director had other coaching experiences that include one season as the men’s varsity coach at the University of Miami, head coach of the Syracuse Chargers junior men’s competitive rowing program, graduate assistant coach for the Syracuse University women’s program, assistant coach at the U.S. Junior Women’s Team East Coast Development Camp and an assistant at the Potomac Boat Club Lightweight Men’s Development Center.
Summers graduated from Colgate University in 1991 and earned an MBA from the Syracuse University School of Management.
He lives in Fayetteville with his wife, Robin, and their two sons, William and Daniel.
