The Oswego State Men’s Club Hockey team split a pair of NECHL games this past weekend. The Lakers traveled to league leading Syracuse on Saturday and were defeated by the tough Orangemen 6-1. Scoring Oswego’s lone goal was senior Mike Steinke assisted by Blaine McClellan. Goaltender Anthony Sellitti had 37 saves for the Lakers.
The Oswego team rebounded the next day when they traveled to Lynah Arena in Ithaca to face the Ithaca Bombers. Exploding for four goals in the first period, the Oswego defense held off the pesky Ithaca team for an important 5-2 win. Rudy Renick, Chris Timmons, Nick Atkins, Rob Lippolis and D.J. Mazzoni (West Genesee) all scored for Oswego with assists being credited to Brandon Clark, Chase Collins, Chris Covel, Nick Phelps, Timmons and Mazzoni. Junior goaltender Mike Reid was busy in the net as he faced 40 shots.

Next weekend they will travel to SUNY Canton for the annual Terry Martin Tournament . Other teams participating this year are Cornell, Canton and John Carroll University.
Two Lakers are leading the league in stats – Rudy Renick leads the NECHL for game winning goals and senior assistant captain Brad Kervin leads the NECHL for short handed goals.
