Oswego State Men’s ACHA D1 Hockey Team Splits Recent Games

The Oswego State Men’s ACHA D1 hockey team went 1-1 in recent action as they lost to Cornell and defeated Binghamton in NECHL action. Their record is 8-8, with 2 of the losses being overtime losses.

The Lakers traveled to The Rink in Lansing to face the Cornell Big Red and were defeated by the home team 4-2. Scoring goals for Oswego were DJ Mazzoni and Chris MacRae, both West Genesee graduates. Assisting on both goals was Justin Smith. Senior goaltender Aaron Frohm had 24 saves for the loss.

The following night Oswego traveled to Binghamton and came away with a 3-0 win, defeating the Bearcats for the second time this season. Justin Smith, Sam Vaimberg and Mike Renick scored the Laker goals with assists being credited to Chris Timmons, David Graf (Corcoran), Matt Brady and Tom Rahill. Aaron Frohm had 33 saves for his 4th shutout for this season. He is leading the nation in shutouts for ACHA D1 goaltenders. There are 59 D1 teams in the ACHA.

Oswego only has 2 games left this semester; they travel to Ithaca on Sunday December 2 for a league contest and then face non ACHA Lemoyne the following week.

The Lakers are members of the NECHL and are sponsored by the Student Association of Oswego State University, Tavern on the Lock Restaurant, Damn Good T-shirts, Bags for Sports and Hockey Stop. Head coach is Jay Peacock and assistants are Adam Webster and Chris Cavanaugh. Bruce Zellar is the faculty advisor.
