Oswego State Men’s Hockey Players Honored As SUNYAC Players of the Week

Oswego State men’s hockey players Eric Selleck (So., Spencerville, Ont.) and Jon Whitelaw (Fr., Huntsville, Ont.) have been named the SUNY Athletic Conference Men’s Hockey Player and Rookie of the Week for the week ending December 13, 2009. The top-ranked Lakers improved to 13-1-0 overall and matched a program-best 12-game winning streak after going 3-0 last week .

Selleck, who was recognized as the SUNYAC Men’s Hockey Player of the Week, compiled four goals and two assists in wins over Utica, Hamilton, and Hobart last week. Selleck registered two goals, including the game-tying goal in the third period, against the Pioneers in a 5-4 decision. He followed up that performance on Friday with two goals and an assist during a 6:47 span in the second period in an 8-2 win over Hamilton. In Saturday’s 5-1 win against Hobart, Selleck earned an assist. He currently leads the team in scoring with 34 points (13 goals, 21 assists).

Whitelaw, who was recognized as the SUNYAC Men’s Hockey Rookie of the Week, tallied two goals and five assists in three wins. He assisted the Lakers’ first goal against Utica. In Friday’s 8-2 victory at Hamilton, he contributed two assists, including an assist on the game-tying power play goal. Whitelaw’s top performance of the week came against Hobart as he compiled two goals and two assists and was on the ice for all five Laker scores. He is fourth on the squad in scoring with six goals and 14 assists.

This marks the second time that Selleck and Whitelaw have been recognized as conference players of the week this season. Both were recognized by the league on November 9.
